2024 UK Immigration Rules Changes: Dependent, Care Visa, Work Visa All Affected
After reviewing several laws, the British government announced new changes. New changes to immigration laws were announced on February 19, with significant changes to Ukraine visa, skilled worker, visa processing, visa entry and humanitarian visa procedures. The full document can be downloaded from the UK Immigration website. I’m leaving a link to the post below so you can check it out.
Three major change: First change
We’ve summarized all the new rules for skilled worker visas, health and care worker visas and dependent visas. These changes are not much different from those announced last December. The only exception is the statement of change which confirms and removes rules that have already been published.Let’s start with the changes to the guardian visa. Changes to custodial visas are included in today’s change statement announced in December as part of a five-point plan to reduce net migration. Care workers will be banned from bringing dependents into the UK and carers in the UK who want to support migrant workers must register with the Care Quality Commission by 4 December 2023. The Prime Minister and Home Secretary have come out to curb illegal immigration and reduce net migration.
Second change
This plan, alongside the package we have already introduced to restrict student dependence, is expected to mean around 300,000 people who would have been eligible to come to the UK under last year’s rules would not be able to.These changes include some of the measures announced in that package, namely preventing overseas care workers and senior care workers from bringing their dependents to the UK, and requiring care providers in England who wish to sponsor migrant workers to be registered by the Care Quality Commission CQC.
These measures will ensure we continue to protect our NHS and social care systems, while addressing significant concerns that have emerged since the introduction of the visa about high levels of non-compliance and worker exploitation and abuse within the adult social care sector, particularly for overseas workers employed within care occupations.Care workers and senior care workers who are already in the route will be able to extend their permission with the same sponsor and settle without the CTC regulation requirement applying to them. They will also be able to bring dependents, including in cases where they change jobs to another sponsor who meets the CQC regulation requirement. The changes to the immigration rules are being laid on 19th February 2024.
Third change
The move closes the Ukrainian family program and offers Ukrainians a single route from outside the country to the UK under HFA. The change will come into effect on 19 February 2024. All other changes will come into force on 11 March 2024. The Employment Rights Centre, a charity supporting migrants in the UK, said the closure of UDFs would come as a “cruel shock” to people applying to be a family member in the UK. The Center for Labor Rights noted in the X thread that the changes will have huge implications for Ukrainians seeking asylum in the UK.Effective immediately, only those with British or Irish citizenship, permanent status or permanent residence will be able to sponsor a Ukrainian. person in their homes in Ukraine. It excludes the Ukrainians themselves. We have prepared a Ukrainian domestic application for a Ukrainian mother to support her daughter, flee Ukraine and join her in the UK. We must tell her that the system is over and her daughter must find another way to safety.
And finally,This is the main reason for the new information on changes published on 19 February 2024 for skilled workers, dependent visas and other visas. The changes are similar to the previous notification and will be effective from March 2024. For more information, follow the link below and read carefully. I hope this information was helpful to you.
